Mikhail Fedorovich Vasil'ev Papers, 1939-1962.

Manuscripts, photographs, and a document of Vasilév. The manuscripts are chiefly autobiographical in nature, and concern Vasilév's participation in the Vlasov movement in World War II. Clippings and typed additions have been interspersed throughout many sections of the manuscripts. There is also an essay on the Soviet oil industry. Also included are two photographs of Vasilév, a copy of a photograph of General Vlasov, and Vasilév's military service record from the ROA, to which a service pin has been affixed.

Andrei Andreevich Vlasov (b. 1901-d. 1946), Lieutenant-General in the Army of the Soviet Union, held a number of key positions during World War II, including commander of the 99th Rifle Division, IV Mechanized Corps, 37th Army, 20th Army, and 2nd Shook Army. He was taken prisoner of war in 1942, became commanding officer of ROA (Russian Liberation Army; anti-Communist), and was later arrested, condemned to death, and executed as a traitor.
